                           Wood VS Metal

Wood frame construction remains the most widely used method of building, and is being used in more commercial and industrial buildings, largely due to the quicker construction process.

Wood frame buildings are more economical to heat and cool. Steel beams in steel frame building transmit warmth and cold, requiring a higher r-value insulation than wood frame buildings, that reflects more cost on the customer.

Wood post frame construction buildings utilize treated posts, that include a lifetime warranty against termites, directly into the ground at a depth of 3 ft, versus  steel structures columns being bolted to the top of a slab. This requires thick concrete column that add more cost to the consumer.

Ask yourself, which way is better? Bolted to the top of a slab were bolts con loosen due to concrete failure or rust, or installed deep into the ground. With post frame construction all of the weight of the building is transferred to the ground instead of adding more weight to a slab which can lead to slab failure and expensive repair bills.

Post frame buildings use wall girts(2x4 or 2x6) and roof purlins spaced 2 ft apart versus the wider spans used with metal structured building. The closer span allows for more metal fastening, adding strengths to the building, plus eliminating the need for heavier gauge metal which in turn, adds more cost to the consumer.

Wood does not rust!   With the use of treated grade boards and treated posts for ground applications, post frame building will continue to last for many years. The need to scrape, prime, and paint is always present to preserve the life expectancy of rusting metal frames. So, please make the right choice and get the most value, dollar for dollar.
